CPF has partnered with Centerstone, one of the nation’s largest mental health and substance abuse treatment services providers, on a “Youth and Young Adult Suicide Prevention” program to provide training and assistance in suicide prevention, with the goal of increasing and standardizing rates of suicide prevention screening in the primary care setting and improving speed of access to follow-up care.
The Suicide Prevention program provides free trainings designed to teach physicians and healthcare professionals the warning signs of a suicide crisis and how to question, persuade, and refer someone to help. The program also gives pediatric practices access to a Centerstone care coordinator who can offer consultation on how to handle positive suicide screenings, locate resources for mental health referrals in local communities, and provide assistance in navigating those referrals to ensure patients are connected to the help they need.
